Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

"I vividly desire that a church be built on this site, so that in it I can be present and give my love, compassion, help and defense, for I am your most devoted mother... to hear your laments and to remedy all your miseries, pains and sufferings."

Prior to Our Lady of Guadalupe's conversion of millions, the major empires in the Americas were evil, resisting the efforts of the conquistadors to conquer them, or the efforts of the missionaries to convert them. Only the direct intervention of Our Lady of Guadalupe could successfully launch the evangelization of the Americas, which she did 'with the rapidity of light' after revealing herself to the Indian Juan Diego.

These pagans could not resist Our Lady of Guadalupe and they flocked in droves to the waters of Baptism on a scale and with a speed that has no equal in recorded Catholic history. The missionaries were overwhelmed by the crowds requesting Baptism and to be taught the catechism.

The lesson that Our Lady of Guadalupe taught is that whole continents will be converted through her.
